Dragan Velikić was born in 1953 in Belgrade. He graduated Literature and Literary Theory at Belgrade University. From 1994 to 1999 he was the editor of Radio B92 Publishing. He wrote newspaper columns for NIN, Vreme, Danas and Reporter. From 2005 to 2009, he was Serbian Ambassador in Austria. He is a freelance writer.
He published novels Via Pula (1988, won Miloš Crnjanski Prize), Astragan (1991), Hamsin 51 (1993), Severni zid (1995), Danteov trg (1997), Slučaj Bremen (2001), Dosije Domaševski (2003) and Ruski prozor (2007, won NIN Prize and Meša Selimović Prize; short story books Pogrešan pokret (1983), Staklena bašta (1985) and Beograd i druge priče (2009); books of essays YU-tlantida (1993), Deponija (1994), Stanje stvari (1998), Pseća pošta (2006) and O piscima i gradovima (2010).
His books have been translated into many languages. His works have been published in many Serbian and foreign anthologies.
