Boris Aleksandrovich Orlov was born in 1955 in Živetjevo in Yaroslavl region. He finished Nautical academy in 1977 and after that he got his diploma in literature in 1985. When he gained the officer rank on nuclear submarines of Northern Fleet, he served for thirty years in navy. He retired as first class captain. He debuted as a poet in 1972, and since then he has published 15 books of poetry. Since 1986 he has been the member of Union of USSR Writers. Currently, he is the chairman of Saint Petersburg section of Union of Russian Writers, i.e. a co-president of Union of RussianWriters. His poems have been published in the USA, England, China, Japan and other countries. Overview of his work has been included in three-volume bibliographic dictionary “Russian literature of 20th century”, under editorship of Institute of Russian literature of Russian Academy of Sciences. A sovereign sea poet, of masculine but at the same time gentle vision, keeping balance on the edge of military patriotic pathos. A poet of paradoxical, deep Russian, monumental minimalism.
