Pe­dro Ser­ra­no, born in Mon­treal in 1957. He pu­blis­hed the fol­lo­wing po­e­try bo­oks: Fe­ar (El mi­e­do, 1986), Ig­no­ran­ce (Ig­no­ran­cia, 1994), Pe­at (Tur­ba, 2005), Dis­pla­ce­ments (De­spla­za­mi­en­tos, 2006), Wal­nuts (Nu­e­ces, 2009) and Cle­ar Sto­ri­es (Cu­en­tas Cla­ras, 2014). The bo­ok Bu­il­ding a mo­dern po­et: T. S. Eli­ot and Oc­ta­vio Paz (La construcción del mo­dern po­et T. S. Eli­ot y Oc­ta­vio Paz) was pu­blis­hed in 2011 and the bo­ok De­fen­ces (De­fenßaS­) in 2014. His bo­oks ha­ve been tran­sla­ted and pu­blis­hed in En­gland, Fran­ce and Italy. In col­la­bo­ra­tion with Car­los Lo­pez Bel­tran, he edi­ted a po­e­try col­lec­tion The Lamb Ge­ne­ra­tion. The Ant­ho­logy of Con­tem­po­rary Po­e­try of the Bri­tish Isles, 2000 (La generación del cor­de­ro. Antología de la poesía ac­tual en las Islas Británicas, 2000) and The de­li­ca­te 359 (with fil­ter). The Ant­ho­logy of Con­tem­po­rary Po­e­try of Me­xi­co (The de­li­ca­te 359 /with fil­ter/). Antología de la poesía ac­tual en Méxi­co (2013). He al­so tran­sla­ted King John by Wil­li­am Sha­ke­spe­a­re and Il­lu­mi­na­te the Dark­ness by Ed­ward Hirsch. The ope­ra Les Ma­rim­bas de exil /El Nor­te en Ve­rac­ruz, with his li­bret­to and mu­sic per­for­med by Luc Le Mas­se­net, was per­for­med in Besançon and Pa­ris in Ja­nu­ary 2000. His Silly Three Songs (Tres can­ci­o­nes lunáticas), with the mu­sic per­for­med by Hil­da Pa­re­des, we­re con­duc­ted in Fe­bru­ary 2011 in Vig­mo­re Hall in Lon­don. He is a mem­ber of the Na­ti­o­nal net­work of cre­a­tors. He te­ac­hes mo­dern and con­tem­po­rary po­e­try as well as po­e­try and tran­sla­tion at UNAM. He is an edi­tor of the Jo­ur­nal of Po­e­try of UNAM (www.pe­ri­o­di­co­de­po­e­sia.unam.mx) and di­rec­tor of the Banff In­ter­na­ti­o­nal Li­te­rary Tran­sla­tion Cen­tre. He won a Gug­gen­he­im fel­lowship for po­e­try in 2007.
